OVERVIEW
CF Martin (used 2000) D-28 Golden Era (GE) in excellent condition, housed in an apparently original Geib 545 hard shell case.
This is one of CF Martin Company’s highest level pre-war D-28 recreation/interpretations. It was made of Brazilian rosewood – the world’s most highly valued and finest sounding tone wood when used for the back and sides, and, as well, it utilizes Adirondack “Red” Spruce for the face. It has 7 etched diamond and square fingerboard inlays in 5 fret positions, grained ivoroid body bindings, a bevelled edge “Deiren” faux tortoise pick guard. Small Herringbone against an ebony background surrounds the face, wood parquetry zipper back stripe bisects the back; mostly vertical grain, mainly mocha coloured with this black contrasting stripes. It sports a two piece Brazilian Rosewood back with matching somewhat swirlier grained sides. The headstock is squared; the back of the neck is solid one piece Mahogany with nary an “ear” to be found. A nickel-plated strap button penetrates the treble side of the neck heel.
